:: NextGRID training events ::

The date and venue for the first NextGRID Architecture Training Course has been finalised. This one-day course will take place on Tuesday 7th March at the National e-Science Centre (NeSC) in Edinburgh.

The aim of this course is to provide an overview of the current NextGRID Project vision and goals, and details of some of the key architectural concepts being developed.

Registration is FREE and the presentations are targeted at NextGRID staff in order to support the development phase of the NextGRID architecture and the implementation of prototype applications. The aim being to develop a consistent technical skill base and conceptual framework within the project.

The course is open to anybody working for a NextGRID partner organisation.
The following people in particular should benefit from the seeing the presentations and are encouraged to attend:

1. Those developing prototype applications and demonstrators.

2. Any staff that are new to the project, or may be joining the project in the near future.

3. Project members that may be interested in subsequently presenting any of this NextGRID material (to their home audience say).

The content of the course will be as follows:

Introduction & Architecture Overview
. Context, vision, goals, principles and main features.
Minimal Grid Infrastructure
. SOA basics: SOAP, HTTP, WS-Addressing (EPRs), WSDL
. OGSA WSRF Base Profile: WS-Lifetime, WS-Notification, WS-ResourceProperties, WS-BaseFaults
. Naming: requirements & relevant standards.
Security

. Security principles, context & requirements.
. Baseline Security: TLS, MLS.
. WS-Security, SAML / XACML, Certificates.
Service Level Agreements
. SLA Introduction: motivation, context, requirements &
principles.

. WS-Agreement & WSLA, and anticipated developments.
. NextGRID's SLA templates & usage.
Data Services
. Introduction: Data Access, Data Transport & Data Management.
. Data Integration.
. Data Discovery.

People are encouraged to register as early as possible so that an idea of expected numbers can be obtained in advance.

Further NextGRID courses, open to all Grid users and developers, will take place from May 2006 onwards and will be offered at other international events, conferences and workshops.
